Food Glorious Food!

This weekend included lots of projects for the house (still working, posts to come later) and lots of food! On Saturday night was went to Iron Age - a Korean BBQ place. We had all you can eat brisket and pork belly - both which were good even though they were fatty. I think my favorite was the lettuce :-D Greens with sesame oil, red wine vinegar and red pepper (hot). mmmmmm. They also had soft serve ice cream! Good time with friends. On Sunday KTL and I went to Holeman & Finch - home of one of the top 10 burgers in the country. We started with deviled eggs (one with bresaola, one with sriracha and one with pickled sunchoke). They were good. And then the burger. Oh man, the first bite was AWESOME. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. The french fries were crispy (just like I like them!) and the catsup was homemade (and delish...I usually never have catsup!) We also had a "southern Cola". Diet coke, amaro and a lime juice ice cube. So yummy. We finis

No Dave Ramsey in the New Year!

Normally on my drive home from work I listen to Dave Ramsey for awhile (we get cut off by the news). But with the start of 2011 the radio station cut his show. It's surprising that in the midst of everything that is going on in the economy folks aren't listening to him - but maybe it's just the time slot. But I've been inspired to set some financial goals for 2011. I always do really well with big goals, but not so great with little ones. - Biggest goal is that I'm going to try to pay off my car (bought new February 2010) AND my student loans. This is gonna be a big stretch for me. Those two bills equal close to 1/2 of my salary. But I have a plan and I think it's doable! - Save for a new couch for our house. We have a futon and a very used couch. Hopefully this goal gets easier by finding one at a yard sale ;-) - Save enough money to fly/drive home at least 3 times this year. Not a ton of financial goals - but that's because the first one is goi

IKEA!

I have never been a huge fan of Ikea's meals. I like the ice cream...but not really the meatballs. But when Ikea hosted the Swedish Christmas Jubilee I was excited to try some Swedish food that isn't usually on the Ikea line. (I also think that part of the money went to charity although I can't find that listed anymore). Here's my plate from the food line: I also attempted some smoked salmon (I think there were 3 varieties!) but that is missing from the photo. I enjoyed the cucumber "salad" and the baked potatoes. The rest of it was ok. But then there was dessert! I've also been intrigued by the options when I go to the cafeteria, but I've tried a few not so great desserts and have been a little hesitant to try again. As you can see it's almost as full as my food plate. I REALLY liked the chocolate coconut thing (I think it had a marshmallow inside. I also liked the little cookie (although not that unique). The green bar dessert = ewwww. I
