This book was written by the woman who owned/ran the Kabul Beauty Shop (also on my "to read" list). She says that the book is based on folks' stories that she heard in the shop.
The book follows Sunny, an American that owns a coffee shop in Kabul. She has 3 employees and a few friends that are main characters in the story as well.
In the book I felt the frustration of being in Kabul, the excitement of being in the cafe setting and a bit of the fear of everyday life. She does a good job of showing the struggle between "old" and "new" Kabul.
The thing I didn't like about the book was the ending, but since that would give it away - I'll keep it to myself ;-)
